Traveler Testimonials
“The end came too soon. We had great weather, fantastic bear viewing, a wonderful ship and small-group shore excursions that netted a wealth of unexpected wildlife sightings from the Island Roamer. It was a wonderful, wonderful trip!”

“We loved our trip. It far exceeded our expectations. We truly believe our week in BC was blessed, we saw so much more wildlife than we expected. The weather was incredible and we couldn't have travelled with a more pleasant group of people.”

“This trip was spectacular. It could be my favorite NatHab trip of all time. We saw a Spirit Bear swimming between islands our second day out (an event that the boat captain had never seen before after 14 years of piloting boats in the area). We saw two more Spirit Bears at the platforms. We had whales breaching close to the boat, and on one day, two whales breached right next to us at the same time. The boat staff and Elise had never seen such a breaching, either. We saw several grizzlies, sea lions, and birds. This trip was filled with wildlife. But seeing three Spirit Bears was beyond expectations…This trip was absolutely wonderful, and I feel fortunate more than I can say that I had this opportunity to participate in it. I will always remember the heart-stopping feeling of seeing a Spirit Bear in the wild. It really doesn't get any better than that.”

“This trip was AMAZING. Each day we'd shake our heads and say, ‘Did we really see that? Did that really happen?’ The beauty of the landscape and its inhabitants was outstanding. Actually seeing the salmon run made everything fall into place in my mind, because it gave us the context. Of course, the bears of all types and the whales were mind-blowing.”

“My sixth NH trip and one of the very, very best. I did not expect it to be. The ship crew top drawer; we had a very compatible group of travelers. We saw the elusive spirit bear almost at once...swimming ahead of us. Several other sightings at bear stand. Breaching humpbacks almost joined us in the ship! It was a magical journey; serene; exciting. Absolutely stunned by everything about it. I have been to more seemingly exotic places but this was the best.”

“This trip was magical for me and far exceeded my expectations. I did not really expect to see Spirit Bear, and then we encountered it more than once. It is so beautiful. There were many moments of sensory overload. The whale activity was unbelievable, better than any previous experience. Add to that dolphins, porpoises, sea lions and eagles, and I was simply dazzled. The ship's crew also gets a A+. They did everything possible to make our adventure the best ever, and they did that in a relaxed, pleasant manner that added to our enjoyment and comfort.”

“This trip was incredible! I can't believe how perfect it was--it was truly magical (and I don't use that word lightly) to be in this remote place and to see the rare Spirit Bears, as well as the grizzlies and whales and black bears, and just to experience the wildness and immense beauty of British Columbia. I have traveled many places and seen some amazing things, yet something about this place really moved me. The boat, the crew, the fellow travelers and being met every day with incredible beauty--I couldn't have asked for a more perfect trip.”

"Seeing a Spirit Bear feeding within a few feet of our group was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And of course, having Marven Robinson as our guide on that day was amazing. But Neil Shearer's leadership throughout the 8 days of the trip was extraordinary. He captained the boat flawlessly and gave us a huge amount of information on bear behavior and how humans should behave when in their territory. He led us to the most spectacular wildlife and encouraged us to acknowledge the sacredness of the experience. But beyond that, he poetically communicated his joy at sea, his awe at being in a spectacular setting, his respect for the wildlife, his delight at seeing them in their natural habitat, and his concern for their future."
