Our deluxe safari camp offers a peaceful immersion in Yellowstone Country, far from the crowds that fill the park. Styled after a luxury African bush camp, it overlooks a small lake in the northwest corner of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, surrounded by open range, fragrant sage, distant peaks and Montana's legendary big sky. Yet despite the secluded location and Old West feel, the amenities here are decidedly upscale. Spacious, walk-in canvas tents are raised off the ground on wooden decks, each with its own viewing platform and two Adirondack chairs. And no cots or sleeping bags here: sweet dreams are nurtured in king-size handcrafted log beds (or two twins) that rest on knotty pine plank floors warmed with Pendleton wool rugs in classic Native American designs. An antler chandelier provides overhead light, with floors lamps for added illumination. Furnishings also include a writing desk and two chairs for relaxing or reading. Each tent has an interior wood stove to keep guests warm against the high-altitude chill that sets in after dark. A private bathroom with wash basin, flush toilet and hot shower adjoins each tent.

Camp guests dine on gourmet Rocky Mountain cuisine served outdoors under the shade of canvas or by starlight, with lanterns for added ambience after dark—or in the enclosed main "lodge" tent, for protection from the elements. Accomplished chefs prepare multi-course farm-to-table fare featuring local specialties such as grass-fed bison, stream-caught trout, garden-raised greens and summer berry crumble. On one evening, we'll enjoy a classic western barbecue by the lake.
