Situated on 2 acres overlooking picturesque Northwest Harbor and Mill Pond, Pilgrim’s Inn on Deer Isle an idyllic spot to experience Downeast Maine. One of the oldest structures on Deer Isle, the post-and-beam inn was originally built in 1793 as a private home for Ignatius Haskell, an influential member of the island's maritime community, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was first operated as an inn beginning in 1890 by a descendent of the original owner. Today, it welcomes guests with the enduring ambience of a bygone era. Lovingly restored and meticulously maintained, the inn's 12 unique rooms hark back to the past with restored antique furnishings and classic hardwood floors. Each has a view of the water and is individually decorated and furnished with distinctive four-poster, iron-frame and carved wood sleigh beds. Guests will find plenty of contemporary luxury touches including deluxe 100% cotton linens, plush robes, and Gilchrist & Soames BeeKind environmentally friendly bath amenities that support honeybee and sustainable pollination research. While guest rooms do have free Wi-Fi, they do not have televisions, though a TV is available in the Game Room. The library has a collection of books for browsing. A full breakfast is served in a rustic barn on tables handcrafted by the owner from reclaimed wood, with seating in black-painted Windsor chairs that extend the colonial ambience. Breakfast features locally roasted Carrabassett coffee and fresh regional ingredients like Maine maple syrup and Vermont cheddar cheese. Guests enjoy a view of the water as they dine. An onsite bar, The Whale's Rib Tavern, offers a good selection of local beers, wine and cocktails, while complimentary coffee, tea, homemade cookies and fruit are available during the day.
