The Oban Caledonian is Oban’s landmark property, at the gateway to the storied western Isles. This 3-star hotel at water’s edge commands views over the sheltered bay of Oban to the romantic islands of Scotland’s magnificent west coast – sunsets over the Hebridean hills are a frequent bonus! The original hotel was constructed in 1882 with the arrival of the West Highland Railway in Oban and was later requisitioned during World War II by the Royal Navy who made it their base in town. In the 1960s it became the Caledonian Hotel, undergoing a major renovation in recent years that transformed it into the stylish boutique accommodation it is today. Many of the Caledonian’s 59 rooms have fine views over Oban Bay to the mountains of Mull and Ardgour. All rooms have individual décor and include en suite bath and shower, TV, telephone, coffee and tea-making facilities. Two onsite restaurants offer a variety of dining and drinking options.
