Nguma Island Lodge offers peace and tranquility with a spectacular view over one of the largest lagoons in the permanently flooded northwest section of the Okavango Delta. The lodge sits directly on the banks of the lagoon and is bordered by palm trees, papyrus and reed beds. Set among large indigenous trees that cast welcome shade, the lodge offers accommodation in eight luxury meru-style tents on stilts. All have en suite facilities. A 45-minute boat ride brings you to the main Okavango River in the panhandle area of the delta, where the many inlets and channels offer excellent fishing and wildlife viewing. Guests frequently see elephant, warthog and sitatunga (a water-adapted antelope) in the area, as well as other game. Nguma Island Lodge is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with a full complement of water birds, dry land and and floodplain species on view during island and floodplain walks. The elusive Pel’s fishing owl is visible on the numerous islands surrounding the lodge, while meandering channels are literally lined with fish eagle, goliath heron, darters and egrets feeding.
Together, Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to arrange nearly 100 nature travel experiences around the planet, while helping to protect the magnificent places we visit and their wild inhabitants.
