Diphlu River Lodge has been recognized by numerous outlets, from Vogue to Architectural Digest, as one of India's top safari lodges. Offering immediate access to Kaziranga National Park directly across the river, the lodge is the perfect base for exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceros, along with Asiatic water buffalo, eastern swamp deer, capped langur, hoolock gibbon, leopard, sloth bear, Ganges dolphin, otter, wild boar, gaur, sambar, hog deer, barking deer and a healthy density of Bengal tigers. 

Twelve cottages on raised stilts blend seamlessly into the jungle setting, built of local materials including bamboo and thatched roofs, and facing either the river or paddy. High ceilings, plenty of glass and a covered private veranda with cane furniture lend an airy feel, bring the outdoors in. A ceiling fan keeps the space cool, though air conditioning is also provided. Each cottage has one king or two double beds, a sitting area with wicker settees and a writing desk, an en suite bathroom with a glassed-in shower that has a private view on the outdoors, a safe, mini bar, small fridge and an electric kettle with a selection of tea and coffee. 

The common area is centered on the Machan, which means "jungle platform." This large covered area, connected to the cottages by bambook walkways, is appointed with local handicrafts and artifacts and comprises a lounge with cushioned sofas, library, TV room and dining area. It opens directly onto two expansive verandas that extend the polished wood floors and high thatched ceilings. Choose a drink from the well-stocked bar as you pull up a wood and rattan lounge chair on the larger veranda to look for wildlife on the opposite shore of the river before you. The smaller veranda overlooks serene farmland and is an appealing spot for an al fresco breakfast. Other outdoor sitting platforms are located around the pond and riverside, quiet spots for contemplating nature over a cup of local Assam tea. The Lahe Spa offers a range of relaxing and rejuvenating body treatments. 
 
Diphlu Lodge is strongly committed to conservation and community. A total of 5% of the cost of every room booked goes to the ABN Foundation to support education, environmental protection and rural community development. The foundation has also partnered with WWF to train local people as naturalist guides. The lodge grows its own organic rice and vegetables on the premises. Organic waste is composted for use in agriculture, and a gray water recycling program reuses water for irrigation. Bulk and compostable materials are used instead of single-use plastic.
